Ticketmaster was in the news recently for experiencing a glitch when the tickets for Taylor Swift’s tour initially went on sale. Fans were angry they lost out on tickets but were also upset that the ticket prices were drastically higher.

JetBlue now an option at TLH

JetBlue landed in Tallahassee on Jan 4. The airline will offer direct flights to Fort Lauderdale from Tallahassee. Additionally, it will open up over 40 additional locations from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, according to JetBlue’s release earlier this month.

The first inaugural flight was packed with various passengers, including college students returning from their winter break, according to the Tallahassee Democrat. There are countless students from South Florida who attend Florida A&M University, Florida State University and Tallahassee Community College.

Macy’s closing Tallahassee store

Macy’s, one of the anchor stores in the Governor’s Square Mall for more than two decades, has announced that it is closing the store as part of a nationwide reconfiguration.

In a statement to the Tallahassee Democrat, the retailer said it had alerted customers in October regarding its plans to “accelerate the expansion of our Macy’s small format stores, opening up to 30 additional locations through 2025.”

BOG removes sociology from core curriculum

The Florida Board of Governors late last month approved new rules prohibiting spending any dollars on diversity, equity, and inclusion. The BOG also removed sociology from general education core course options at Florida’s public universities. This includes Tallahassee’s top-ranking schools, Florida A &M University, and Florida State University.

The Tallahassee Democrat photographed dozens of students and professors protesting outside the university’s Student Union to defend diversity as the Board of Governors meeting was taking place.

First-year students receive free iPads

First-year students at Florida A&M University are able to receive iPads and other digital supplies courtesy of the university. FAMU revealed the Digital Rattler Initiative in a collaboration with Apple in a press release earlier this month.

During the spring semester, 800 iPad Pros will be given to first-year students at FAMU along with an Apple Pencil, Apple Smart Keyboard Folio and Apple Care + for Schools to provide technical support. According to WCTV, half of the packages have already been provided to first-year students.
